GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
ANITA SMITH TROY

Former National President
Active National Secretary
Former, Western Section, Vice President
Former, Great Lakes, Vice President

If there were only TWO people who loved the American Bridge Association, one was George Johnson and the other was ANITA SMITH TROY.  She was an active member of the ABA for more than 50 years.  No matter where she lived, she found time to serve the ABA, and in an administrative capacity.

Anita was always interested in preserving  the integrity of the ABA.  There were those who challenged her methodology but they could never question or challenge her sincerity. Actually, she could have been the unofficial historiographer of the ABA.  She knew the history and kept detailed records.  She could tell you at which board meeting the "decision"  or whatever was done.  She knew!  She had proof!  She keep the records over the years.  If you went to her home, you'd see that the file cabinets were filled and the tabletops held the rest. (She once told me not to touch ANYTHING on top of whatever.  She knew where everything was placed.

Anita was a friend. If she deemed you such, she'd do anything for you. At an inconvenience to herself, she picked me up at the Las Vegas airport and took me home with her because my reservation at the hotel started a day later than I remembered.

Anita played ABA and ACBL bridge and was a fierce competitor.  She would fly all over the US supporting the different bridge clubs. I think when I met her she lived in Springfield, OH and was president of the Dayton Club.  Yes, she did it all!  She worked her way up to the top...the very top!

Anita, we will miss you!  To God be the glory!!!
