Visitors' Feedback

Washington Bridge Unit (ABA) - Washington Bridge League (ACBL) Unity Games
Thanks to Tanya & Michael Rodich
The WBU(ABA)-WBL (ACBL) Unity Game for the District  was held on Saturday, January 5th, in Silver Spring, Maryland at the Margaret Schweinhaut Center. There were 73 tables of players registered  in the Stratiflighted pairs. There were two single session games with a delicious lunch served in between sessions.  Barbara Shaw made an excellent chili while  Nadine  Wood prepared  delicious turkey soup. There was a salad, dessert and soft drinks. There was a special cake which had the names of all of the new Life Masters written in the icing. Congrats to all new life masters!

The panelists in between sessions were Alan Sontag, a New Yorker who now lives in Maryland, and the newest member of the ACBL Hall of Fame, Steve Robinson, the "godfather" of DC bridge and Harold Minus, Sr. The panelists reviewed the hand records for the first session and offered tips to the players.

The Director In Charge was Millard Nachtwey, who is one of the chief directors in the ACBL. (Six years ago I enrolled in a director's course in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.  He's an excellent and patient instructor.) In attendance was Carol Banks , member of the WBL Board of Directors.

The District #6 Representative to the ACBL Board of Directors, Nadine Wood, was  there and she helped prepare the lunch which was enjoyed by all.

The first session was held @ 11:30 AM with a second session beginning @ 3:30PM.  Everyone had a chance to get home before dark.

Many of the participants are dual members of the ABA-ACBL and participate in both  organizations on a regular basis.

Our thanks to Tanya & Michael Rodich for the information and for the photographs.
The Rodichs are fresh off a vacation from Thailand.  Ask them about their trip.

To the Washington Bridge Unit and its current leadership: keep up the good work!
