For ten years, Hedy Hunt Echard has been active with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. She is one of the most prolific fund-raisers for the Durham chapter. This year, they raised over 94 thousand dollars. You may remember that at each Spring Nationals she solicits your contributions.
Hedy comes from a family of Volunteers and her children and grands follow in her mother's pattern. Her mother was awarded N C State Volunteer of the Year before she passed. Clara Hunt went to her volunteer "stations" year in and year out as though it was a paying job.
We congratulate Hedy on her volunteerism and hope that what she does for others will rub off on others.
At the Relay 4 Life events, she sponsors a team, "Hedy's Lights" and they walk around ( 2-days) a race track at the high school where the event is held. The do this day and night. Each team charts hours.
