MARY MASON YOUNG has been a continous "servant" of the Mid Atlantic Section. She served as Secretary for a number of years and then as Section Veep for two terms.
It was under her administration that the 2006 Directory was developed. (We desperately need an updated directory. With these past 10 years, many of them are now deceased.) Mary also developed the idea of HONORING OUR OWN. Many of the hardworkers in the MAS were recognized yearly at the MAS Sectional. Mary is the power behind College View. She upgraded her director skills so that she could work for her club and thereby save us money.
Presently, Mary is the National Treasurer-elect and she has promised to be TRANSPARENT. So, we will see.
A special shout-out to Clarice Reid. In her quiet way, she has been able for us to recognize the hard workers of the section by bestowing on them The Arthur J. Reid, Jr. AWARD.
NATIONAL MERIT AWARD
Louis Garner was the MAS recipient of the 2011 National Merit Award. It was presented to him by Carrolena Key, MASVP. Looking on is Leola Rucker, ABA President.
THE CALVIN RUBENS MEMORIAL TROPHY
The 2011 Calvin Ruben Memorial Trophy was presented to Rae Smith by Carrolena Key. Smith won the most point in 2010 than any other player with less than 300 NMP.
ALBERTA F. PETERSON ABA SCHOLARSHP RECIPIENT
Daisy Smith, chair of the MAS Scholarship Committee, presented her report that included a poster with the picture a 2010 recipient and information about the ABA Scholarship program.
The Mid Atlantic Section is the birthplace of the ABA.
